OK, this was a bit of a mind-bender... On 11/03/2014 15:46, Jonathan Blake wrote:

Rejected. Again.
(er) 20tcon 222, 291: [Urquan: These sections weirdly assume that you have used Kai-alchemy at some point which is not true] <http://www.projectaon.org/en/xhtml/lw/20tcon/sect222.htm> <http://www.projectaon.org/en/xhtml/lw/20tcon/sect291.htm>Ah, when we added 271 back into the game (it was an orphan in the original book) we added it to the wrong place. We should have added it to 283 instead of 216. I suggest we reverse the related changes we made in 216 and add the following in 283: If you have not yet attained this level of Kai rank and do not possess a Rope, but you do possess a Bow, turn to 111. Also change the last option to the following: If you have yet to attain this level of Kai rank and possess neither of these items, turn instead to 30.
Darn. OK, I've done this, though if you want to double-check the svn check-in for Book 20 in case I missed something, I'd appreciate it.
(er) 18dotd 163: [Urquan: It seem very obvious to me personally that the footnote here is wrong, and that you are supposed be able to use only one or the other in this section (Kai-alchemy or Sabito): 163. It is worded exactly like a hundred similar sections, so I'm not sure why this one would be different. Either you use the Kai-alchemy spell "Breath Water" to breath underwater, or the Sabito for the same effect. You cannot "breath better" with both. However, the interesting point here is that seemingly the Mongoose editions also have this implementation, according to this thread. I'm guessing the Project Aon errata came first? My theory is that the Mongoose editors went with this implementation based on that wrongful footnote.] <http://www.projectaon.org/en/xhtml/lw/18dotd/sect163.htm>Our footnote is meant to express uncertainty about this question, not suggest that using both bonuses is "correct". If there's a better way to express that, we should change it.
I think what he's saying is that the footnote is unnecessary as the text is clear enough that the bonuses are NOT cumulative. [Not yet resolved]
(er) All: [Urquan: At least the Magnakai Mongoose books include an extended description for Laumspur in the Equipment section, adding "It cannot be used to increase ENDURANCE points immediately prior to a combat.". I cannot confirm if newer releases of the Kai books also have this description or not. This text is not included in the current online editions, and weirdly I have found no mention of it anywhere online. I talked about this whole healing items can of worms here. I'm guessing there is no "official" ruling on any of this?] [so: This appears in the later books, but not the earlier ones, AFAICT. Seems to be a Mongoose addition from Joe, so should we add this to the books?]Seems reasonable to add this. I'm tempted to footnote the addition to note its source, but it's probably better to just add it and note the source on the errata page (which is what we've already been doing?).
Ugh! OK, made this mammoth change to the books; will now attempt to update the Readers' Handbook pages. Wish me luck!
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly on this, Jon--I was thinking it'd be tomorrow before I had the go-ahead to sort out the Laumspur addition! >_<
