All have been fixed, though I won't push this change pending decisions on whether to make them PNGs instead (see below).
I propose we remove the en/jpeg/fw directory completely; all FW maps are PNG files. That's fine.
Sorted! I'll check in this change now, then.
I have a replacement map for Book 10 which fixes the "Moggador Fore--" broken label in the current version. I remade this map yesterday as I was unhappy with how much detail was lost in my previous attempt. The current replacement candidate is here: <http://www.projectaon.org/staff/simon/maps/10TDOT-map.jpg> Does this look OK when compared to the existing one? I think it is, but I would prefer feedback before pushing this replacement to the SVN repository.Looks good. It would be nice to go to PNG as Brandon suggested because of the artifacts created by JPEG, but what would the file sizes be?
A few experiments: 18dotd map: JPEG = 392,920 (383kb) PNG = 1,690,597 (1.57Mb) 10tdot (replacement) map: JPEG = 241,504 (235kb) PNG = 1,652,581 (1.61Mb) 26TFOBM map: JPEG = 304,852 (297kb) PNG = 1,384,065 (1.31Mb)So PNG maps would probably be approx. 1.5Mb each. I have no objection to using PNGs for maps--I'd prefer it, personally--but the filesize might become an issue. How long would it take to download 1.5Mb on a 56k modem? Its been so long since I used one I honestly can't remember.
I'll check in the first change--removal of the FW JPEG directory--and wait other comments. If we do decide to go for map PNGs I can also update the xml files accordingly as I have plenty of time today.
