Hi there, just to throw in my little bit of chatter in this thread cause it
would be very unlike me not to have something to say hahaha. When you
ajust the volume of your ringing sound there should be an option beside
this to switch on or off. This is like a check box and it says when its
activated that the volume of your ringer and alerts will not be affected by
the volume buttons. Now, in theory this means that if the phone is in your
pocket which is allowed, you should not disturb the volume of your ring
tone if you hit off the volume buttons on the phone. However, if I use the
volume buttons to turn down voiceover if I am in a room with other people
to read messages or something it does affect the volume of my alerts say
for texting or push notifications and such like. I do find this a little
annoying but its something I will have to get use to. Now, I am using an
iPhone 4 so maybe the 3gs is slightly different I don't know.

Cheers, Nicky.
