Hi Darragh,

If this is only happening when the machine is on a wireless connection then
I'd suggest removing the Samsung wireless drivers or manager and letting
windows manage the wireless network. I wasn't aware that it only happened
on wireless and my first thoughts were more about internet explorer security
settings.

Removing the Samsung wireless software should fix that.
Stuart.

To expand:

Youtube and all other effected sites can be reached by ping so a connection
can definitely be made.

I think the issue is possibly something either to do with flash, the browser
or some security software in the background.

What makes it tricky is that these sites work when the machine is connected
to the router using a wired connection. It is only when using wireless that
it fails to work.

The error is a standard: "The page cannot be displayed" message.

One thing that I've checked but I'm not convinced it's correct is the MTU
setting for the BT connection. On my router it's 1432 however BT insist
that it's 1400. If set incorrectly, this could account for slower than
normal page loading resulting in a timeout.

When pinging youtube for example, no packets are lost.

I think he has now upgraded to IE8 and I assume is still experiencing the
issue.

As Nicky said, any suggestions would be very appreciated as at the moment
I'm drawing a blank.

Subject: [vicsireland] problems with certain websites

Hi folks, I am receiving some help with this problem but would like
opinions from people here as someone maybe has experienced this problem. I
am using a Samsung netbook mc10 and am having problems connecting to certain
websites. IE just says that it can't connect to the website and gives the
usual error thing about checking that I have the address typed in corectly.
I have just installed IE 8 to see if it might make a difference but it
doesn't. One of the sites for example is youtube and I also tried
connecting to ireland.com earlier and I can't get into it either.

If anyone has any suggestions I would be grateful to hear them.

Cheers, Nicky.
