Paul, firstly are you still having problems with the FSTab?
You might want to try booting into your system using the kernel on the FC 5 Cd
and then mount your hard drive using something like:
mount /dev/hda2 /mnt/
If you want to access the shell using normal paths then just type chroot /mnt/
the fstab file is a pain in the ass to get right some times. I haven't had to
deal with it since working with SuSE technical support about 6 months ago. If
you want though send the entire file to me and I'll take a look.
I too tried Solaris a few months ago as I really wanted to begin messing around
with the Orca screen reader. Its an alternative to the first screen reader
gnopernicus which was created for the Gnome window manager. To my delight
though Orca works really well on FC 5 and installing it and its dependancies
was a lot easier than I expected. Even updating the package using CVS has been
made easy and later versions of Orca are configurable using a new GUI.
Orca and other screen readers for the Gnome and KDE window managers are
definitly not as advanced but experiencing each development as its made and
contributing by reporting bugs and suggesting enhancements is very rewarding.
