Hi all, I have been given the task of heading up the vics research group once again for the next year. The main purpose of this group is to examine and evaluate new pieces of software which are useful to us as computer users. At present it is comprised of myself, Paul traynor and Loretta Connerty. We are always interested in new members, so if any of you feel that you would like to be part of this group, just give me a shout. Topics we have looked at so far are: Firefox which is a web browser, an alternative to Internet explorer. AVAST, which is a piece of anti virus software and an alternative to AVG. This year we hope to look at the new screen reading software that is used with the apple mack, windows vista and the new versions of office when they are released, as well as Dream Weaver which is used for designing web pages. We are also very interested in hearing what you, the members would like this group to look at. If you have any suggestions for software that you would like us to look at, feel free to drop me a mail. We are also developing an FAQ, (frequently asked questions) page on our website. This is a one stop shop knowledge base where users can get information on technical matters such as: helpful hints on Microsoft applications, settings to use when configuring windows with jaws etc. Once again, if any of you have any tips and tricks that you find useful or a topic you would like to see more information on, please don't be afraid to share this with us. We would like this page to be useful to all our members, from beginners to advanced, so your suggestions are extremely important. That's it for now, Brian.
