Rather than the number of parts, I think the suspicious element is that the

Master synths have a Pad component in the kit, Hyper Matrix doesn't. There's a
funky locking arrangement involved in loading a PADsynth instrument. It's
always
been there, but it's highly possible I've irritated it's comfort level. I
figure
that's where I should be looking as a starting point.
