Registration is quite easy. You have to choose a user ID, and there is a
button to check whether the one you have chosen is free. If not, they
recommend suggestions, or you can try choosing something else.

Then you choose a password. I made sure to choose one with letters and
numbers which I will only use for EBAY.

There is then a combo box to choose a secret question. These are the usual
things like mother's maiden name, name of first school, etc. Then you type
the answer in the next edit box.

Obviously you also fill in all the other details such as name and address,
e-mail, etc.

Pressing the register button tells you if you have succeeded, and you can
then choose to start buying or start selling.

I had bought the book I wanted to sell from BBC Audio Collection, so I
looked it up there and copied the description onto the clipboard. When I
filled in the selling form on EBAY, the frame for the description did
involve a little trial and error, but I eventually found the right position
to press enter for forms mode, and the description pasted in ok.

The selling form is a bit complicated, and seems rather repetitive. Firstly
they want to know the category your item is in. This is just a set of
checkboxes, and you can tick more than one to put it in more than one
category if you like. For example, my book was put in both the audio books
and non-fiction categories.

There are quite a few combo boxes asking about format, and you can state a
maximum and minimum price if you like.

At the end of the process you get a verification code over the phone for
your listing. This was no problem at all. The voice was very clear, and
the number was repeated several times. You just put the number in the edit
box, press enter on the verify button, and then get a congratulations
message.

I probably haven't mentioned all the things on the form, but hopefully this
will give you an idea of how it works. Now all I have to do is wait for the
bids to roll in, which they haven't done so far. There is also a combo box
on the selling form where you choose how long you want the auction to go on.
This one didn't seem to want to move away from seven days, so I left it
alone.

I hope this encourages you.

Wendy

Wendy,

You're braver than I am! Tell me what you did so far and if you get any
responses! ...
