I think it has been established that the twenty percent discount is not a V.A.t exemption but a gesture of commercial goodwill on the part of apple, HMRC are therefore not involved. It was unfortunate that someone in apple confused the situation by inferring that the discount for registered blind people on apple products ( excluding iPhones ) with voiceover had anything to do with V.A.T. and it would be a good thing if everybody stopped referring to it as such.
