No Sam, that can't happen. The only way a regular customer can be challenged is if the Customer signed a vat exemption form for an exempt product, and they, the custom, wasn't entitled. This is so simple I can't explain, at the end of the Day apple will pay just under 17 per cent of the groce amount they charge the customer VAT.
The sheer simplilicy of VAT is what makes it so popular. If you get a reduction treat it as a discount. What you don't want, and I fear this will happen, too much fuss and HMRC will remind Applethat this isn't an exemption, and things might harden. This is an insane conversation, no individual customer has ever had a VAT exemption on an Apple product.-----

SteveI can pay the full amount but are HMRC going to chase up Apple or the customers who have already received VAT exemptions wrongly on Apple products. I'm not very happy to know people or companies are avoiding paying tax.Sam -----Original Message-----From: access-uk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Steve NuttSent: 21 January 2013 11:52 To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [access-uk] Re: VAT Exemptions Apple Products Hi,You don't. Not unless Apple feel generous enough to do it. It is not a VATexempt product. Pay the full whack. Ask your local Apple if Apple offer this if they say yes, take it.They may give it, but trust me when I tell you the renenue have not grantedthis, and it falls outside the rules. Good Luck I hope you get it. I am looking to upgrade my iPhone and was wondering what the process is for getting this exemption. If indeed I am able to get VAT exemption.
