I would agree with you. For this reason, I set up a Gmail account, and use
it for my Email list traffic as I don't often have to go into Google to
retrieve anything that has gone straying into my Trash folder on the
website.
The BT thing is a bit of a nightmare, and forcing your Emails to go into
your Inbox is a bit tricky to explain, though I can do it now using JAWS.

I have ceased using bt email services for that very reason but alas it seems
other providers are following suit,
they call it "protecting your account" i call it unwanted interference.
