Alex,

I am rather behind on my mail so won't answer this until I know where you've got to. Since you sent me a message about Skype, to which I responded so hope I'm added at your end, it may well be that you've made it. I do hope so and look forward to speaking with you this way.

If you're still trying to work things out then I'll do my best to come in with some answers if others don't beat me, which is quite probable at this stage.

Hi Carol,

I do have an electronic manual on this machine, but it is in .PDF format and it says that without the permission of the computer manufacturers I can not convert it to text, and although I have adobe reader, I can not get my head round .PDF files, however, I have been discussing the problem I am having with the microphone in a telephone conversation with Colin Howard and off list e-mails with Peter Beasley.

As a result of speaking to Colin I managed to work out which socket the microphone jack needed to be plugged into , and as a result of the e-mails between myself and peter Beasley, I have now got the relevant check box checked in volume control, however my next question, which I have already put to Peter, but I will ask the list also, since either yourself, or ray may be able to answer it, is, Now that I have the microphone checkbox checked in volume control, considering that I do not have anything to plug into the Line In socket and that as a result of this I have left the Line In volume low and the line In check box unchecked, how can I make certain of whether the microphone is working or not?

Thank you again for all your help.
