What is the relation of "Smell" threshold to "Danger" threshold for this?

If the danger threshold is less than the smell threshold (dangerous
before you can smell it) smelling it would be a bad thing.

I had thought N2H4 was like that, but it might be N02 instead.

NO2 most likely ... if you don't see the red fumes (as in the
case of a leak at night) you could be injured without noticing,
as exposure doesn't cause much immediate distress (but irritates
the lungs so you slowly become troubled with edema).

The hydrazines are said to give "plenty of stench warning" (according
to a former poster who has worked with them); a strong noticeable odor
should be taken as grounds to suit up or clear the area - "don't just
sit there sucking up the fumes"... but not as an occasion for panic.

I hear pentaborane is pretty evil - smell and toxic threshold are
said to be pretty similar, as in the odor is enough to make one feel
poisoned: a "single strong whiff" has been reported to result in
"noticeable symptoms" of toxicity.
