Formic has the interesting property that your sinuses will slam shut for up to about an hour afterwards. Like, tighter than any cold you've
ever had. You end up talking funny, like you have a clothes peg on your nose. No lasting effects as far as I can tell, but certainly not
something I want to repeat.

I got a nose full of high-conc formic once. Kicks like a mule. I don't
remember the exact chemical reason for futzing with the stuff, only
that it was involved in the process of recovering gold metal from
plasma-spec carrier solution.
