IDK, but using actual rubbers would be a pricey fuel, both in materials
cost and labor. Imagine having to open all the packages.

PBAN, HTPB,etc are all synthetic rubbers, what's the ISP in a vac for latex and AP.

Yeah, well, I meant rubber, not rubbers. If someone is using
condoms for fuel, that would be pretty funny too, give the phallic
nature of rockets...

Sure but the salami hybrid was also more of a gimmick to get some

N2O has killed people in ways still not fully understood.
Ken, so yes indeed, depends on the oxidizer.

I think the safeness of hybrids depends on the oxidizer, and
whether or not a chunk of rubbers clogs the exit to the nozzle.

A colleague of mine who worked for Amroc said their
executive had a portable test stand which had a salami as
the fuel grain and GOx for the oxidizer.
He fired the motor in an office environment then gave slices
of the still hot salami to the observers to eat.
The point was that hybrids are safe and taste good too.

I got a giggle around the 5min mark when Joe started
listing his new goals, including a Starship/Superheavy
model complete with bellyflop recovery (I /called it/,
back when he posted the Christmas Tree video! Hah!),
and "the meat rocket," which he was coy about, but made
me think of that one MythBusters episode where they
tried making a hybrid rocket using a salami and NO2.
