A point of clarification.

It is not that having maps on the phone is not acceptable to the folks at
Sendero. As most of you know, we are big fans of maps on a device. All of our
other products have maps resident on the device. We have certainly been
criticized for that too. There are trade offs of either approach.

Because of our arrangement with Mapquest, we had to go with an approach of maps
on the server. There are benefits to that now and others in the future. The
battery drain has a lot to do with our frequent accessing of the server, which
most people should want. We recognize this issue and are open to future changes
including having some or all of the data on the phone, which will in exchange,
take up a good amount of memory on your device.

But, haven’t we already been told that having the maps on the phone is not an
option that is acceptable to the folks at Sendero. That means there will
always be a big drain on the battery and a large amount of data usage due to
this being the way the app works.

So, you are paying for an app that will also cost more and demand more from
your data plan if you use it frequently, and mean that the phone now can be
used for GPS, but you may not have enough battery power to make a phone call.

The drain might be a little less with Navigon because maps are stored on the
phone, so it doesn’t need to keep calling the server for map data.

Well, I have no such problems with Navigon or with BlindSquare so it's worth a
try. I am sorry for sending it to the list though.

I guess someone’s trying to get a refund, but it ain’t gonna happen. It is a
known fact that GPS aps drain the battery, especially when used in conjunction
with a Bluetooth headset, and or keyboard.

Hi Sheri, here is my receipt from the iTunes store.
I appreciate your help with this matter.
I had problems with excessive battery drain using the app because I wasn't
able to use the app in lock mode.
Regards, Paula
