In what way is Opera more usable than other browsers (free/non-free)?
I could run Opera 8.5 (on Slackware 10.2) on my old IBM laptop
(IBM 380ED - Pentium 133MMX with 32 MB RAM) and its pretty
much usable for most websites (other than those that throw-up
java applets or those that are heavily AJAX oriented).
Opera isn't just usable, the UI is extremely intuitive and well thought.
And yes, at the size of Mozilla Firefox, you get a web browser+email
client+many other features, and still feel light and fast - it doesn't
clutter your desktop with too many widgets/icons. It loads faster,
renders pages better. Try Ctrl++/Ctrl+- while viewing a page with
graphical images on Mozilla Firefox or any of your favourite web
browser, try the same on Opera to notice the difference.
Mozilla Firefox, though an excellent attempt at creating a web browser
isn't all that light IMO. I've never had success running firefox peacefully
on machines with 64 MB RAM, and its performance is crippled even at
128 MB RAM (on a Pentium II that I tested).
Opera isn't Free Software - yet, its one of the best modern web
browser that I've ever used.
