I would recommend you to get the Gentoo base installed, and bootstrap
GCC and optimally compile the necessary things needed for your system.
Nothing can challenge this ;)
Regarding the web browser for your 64 Meg system, forget any Mozilla
based browser, you could try Dillo if you would run X, otherwise links
is your friend.
As for mail client, you can choose either Mutt/Elm/Pine.
