Dear Members

I saw recommendations for Gentoo and Debian. Leave Ubuntu.
Gentoo will not run on old gear. Debian happily will.
I cannot understand this thread - op asked for hardware, every one is
talking about software - what is he supposed to run it on?
He does mention pIII which is what confused me. Usually I don't get misled.
Anyway why talk about PIII if you are talking in 2011. We live in a
very changed
world no? ;)
Anyway if you want to buy fresh hardware just buy whatever your budget
allows you and I bet you can run Debian on it.
It is a non issue.
However if you wish to run Linux on your PIII that is not a problem if
you can run Debian.
Remember, always.
People's recommendations are based on preferences and knowledge.
I may write something in C because I like C. Someone may use something else.
Similarly there are no clear answers.
