It is not merely a matter of preference. English is a lanbguage
read from top to bottom. Putting later responses on top causes readers
to have to revert the natural flow of reading the response, and makes
it harder to follow the discussion; as does untrimmed useless clutter.
I have a limited amount of time to follow lists, looking
for people who might have issues with software that I can help with
(usually Debian, but also SELinux and common UNIX issues). Evolving
the list culture so that the posts are mostly in logical order (answers
coming _after_ the question , not before), with extraneous matter
trimmed, would help everyone -- including other users who are trying to
follow the conversation.
