One good thing with koffice is its ability to import PDF files, I have
not seen that capability in any other word processors. Sadly it doesn't
export to PDF (in my earlier case I could have done a pdf presentation,
if only it had supported it).

Openoffice exports to pdf just fine. Or you can set "pdf" as a virtual printer, 
as Rahul pointed out.
