I think it's a 1st winter Mew Gull. Poss. hybrid. But I think the former.
And yes still fresh plumage back has not changed yet. Underwing to dark for
1st yr Ring-billed. When I zoom in you can see the brown on the breast.
Nat. Geo' s 1st winter ill seems right when compared with photos. Sizes do
overlap. Regardless great photos!!
