Almost ten years ago I wrote an email to this list [see attachment] asking for discussion about the lip sync problems in ATSC.

Today it is much worse, not better than it was then.

When will the FCC start levying fines against stations, networks,
equipment manufacturers and software creators for not doing a proper job?
Time was that not having video on all of line 21 was cause for a $10K fine.
Or maybe Who Cares?
You might want to look at http://www.pixelinstruments.tv/. They've addressed the issue.

They may well have but they must also have said, yes you are right, there are definitely lip sync issues in May of 2009, and don't expect them to be resolved anytime soon.

Just watch any local or national news cast and you'll see/hear lip sync disparities sometimes as much as two seconds [!!] worth in various segments.

Somehow all audio must be embedded at 'the' source so it remains synced with the video all the way into my eyes and ears.
It should just work.
