Looks like the CEA is sitting on the sidelines in this case. They
would need to take a VERY proactive stand in favor of OTA receivers,
in order to create the same kind of favorable consumer reaction as
that for DVD. But they have no reason to help broadcasters; it is
cable, DBS and the Telcos that are working with the consumer
electronics industry to promote multi-channel TV services.
Perhaps if broadcasters provided incentives to CE retailers...
but we all know that THAT will never happen. Broadcasters want
competitors to PAY THEM.
