The wonders of archives. Dial back the clock to July 2004. This was when
most PC monitor sales had already gone to LCD, but not yet TV sets. In
late June, I had posted a story which explained that low-priced LCD TVs
were coming. And that "by 2008, a panel for a 30-inch/32-inch LCD TV
will cost less than half of what it costs today, sliding from $953 to
$430, ..."

Target sells a 26" HD LCD with ATSC built-in for $499. And Target sells
a 32" HD LCD with ATSC built-in for $599. These prices can only continue
to drop. If by next year they reach $430, for this size, would anyone be
surprised? Not moi.

Sure enough, CRTs (if you can find any) have become cheaper yet. But (a)
the price of HD LCD TVs with integrated ATSC receiver is no longer an
issue, even for bigger sets, and (b) CRT prices are essentially fire
sale prices.

Only 3 years from that date.
