Nobody at the ATSC, or anybody who toiled long and hard on the underlying standards, will ever admit they made a grievous error in choosing a single carrier high symbol rate transmission scheme. Nor will they ever admit that DVB is head and shoulders above ATSC as an underlying data standard, even as they continue to scramble to add more DVB-like features to ATSC. Look for new public announcements on that front at this year's NAB. I have said over and over again, and I will repeat it one more time: Even if a miracle chipset appeared that did all that was claimed back in 1999, I'd still prefer DVB-T over ATSC simply because of the immense flexibility afforded to the BROADCASTER.
