For my own benefit, I've collected all of the originals places where
you pick up a statuette in The Captives of Kaag. We have since
deleted "which you keep in your Backpack" from all of these.

Action Chart as a Special Item which you keep in your Backpack. If you
already carry the maximum number of items allowed, you will have to
discard one in its favour."

Chart as a Special Item which you keep in your Backpack. If you
already carry your maximum quota, you must discard one item in its
favour."

"If you wish to keep this Statuette of Zagarna, mark it on your Action

A number of issues:
1) Is the Statuette of Zagarna a Special Item or a Backpack Item?
It seems clear to me that Dever intended this to count as a Special
Item which is oddly carried in your Backpack.
2) Is the Statuette of Slûtar a Special Item or a Backpack Item?
Section 176 muddies the water by talking about the Statuette of Slûtar
not counting against the number of Backpack Items. It doesn't mention
the Special Item count.
3) Does the Statuette of Zagarna take up space?
Clearly, yes.
4) Is the Statuette of Slûtar take up space?
I think it should, but as a Special Item.
5) If we delete the line about keeping these in the Backpack, how
should we fix 336?
I don't have a good suggestion here.
My recommendation is that we standardize on the following:
"If you wish to keep this Statuette of _____, mark it on your Action
Chart as a Special Item which you keep in your Backpack. If you
already carry the maximum number of Special Items allowed, you must
discard one item in its favour."
