I was thinking about listing it as:

View standard · simple · simpler

I'm not sure about "simple" and "simpler". Sure, the HTML is really
simple(r), but the one page editions are huge in terms of size of
the download for this single page. The illustrated version weighs
in at 5.2 MB. This could be rather surprising for somebody
expecting something simple. Also, it is probably not suitable for
people without an all- inclusive data traffic contract for their
mobile.

I suggest something like "single page" and "single page illustrated
(5.2 MB)".

That makes a lot of sense, though I think "simple" and "simpler" are
good pithy descriptions. You got me thinking (yikes!) and I mocked up
a radical departure from how we've formatted the pages before (now
that I'm almost finished streamlining the pages according to the
old-new format).

What do you think?

I like it.

I'd probably flushleft the "view" header. Or simply leave it out
entirely.

Maybe 'view' -> 'view online'?
