Hi Cearbhall,

I think this is a good summary of similarities and differences in
selecting a range.

I think I will try to use Writer and Calc as my word processor and
spreadsheet for the next few weeks and keep a log of issues as they
emerge. I suspect that it is only in daily use that it will be clear
to me whether Open Office is a viable solution.
However, I am still optimistic.
