Ronan,

I am currently looking at open Office calc with NVDA in the latest release.
I can confirm that it is performing almost completely as fluently as Excel.
I can enter data and code formulas perfectly. The editor is a bit dodgy when
moving the cursor from left to right across the text of a formula in edit
mode 2pressing F2). NVDA reads the entire formula perfectly when the cursor
is placed on the equal sign bypressing the home key. He solution of
selecting al the text and then editing in notepad provides a work around. I
notice that JAWS cannot do this at all. Also I find that JaWS has similar
trouble with Excel 2010 so I still count this as accessible in Open Office.

I found that I could create a fill series of my own and fill down a
repeating lsit. This is different from excel bu I was able to paly around
with this tool perfectly in Open Office.

On serious problem in Open Office was to do with formatting a cel or range
of cels. Highlighting is no problem but when I open the format function
(application key - f as in Excel) The category name is not readable.
However, NVDA states that the category is, say, "3 of 11". I tabbed away
from the field and then shited tab back again and NVDA was then able to
speak the category name. All the other fields in the format property were
adjustable and fully accessible.

I am not clear how to select a range. In excel, I do this my pressing F8 at
the start and pressing F5 to go to the last cell in the range. How should I
do this in Calc?

Another difficulty I had was with Help in Open Office. I found it impossible
to get an answer to my query. This was probably because I was using the same
methods that I use in Exce. I found it best to use Google to find the answer
that I needed. Again, this is sometimes the best way to get an answer when
using excel because so many of the Excel help screens are just not
accessible.

The alt- Page UP and alt- page down commands work perfectly to switch
between worksheets within the same workbook in Calc.

I hope these observations hep.

All the best,

Cearbhall
