There are also headphone-microphone combos with jack plugs, which normally
will both work.

Hi,

If you are using the jack plug style of Mic then you need to go into
control panel/sounds and audio. From here go to the hardware page and choose
Run hardware test. You must set up the mic first on windows before it will
work properly within skype. Personally these style of mics that plug into
the soundcard are problematic and I prefer a USB type instead.

Paul.

Subject: [vicsireland] Skype microphone not working

Jo

I'm having a problem with the new Skype microphone I bought. Basiclally, the
microphone doesn't seem to be connecting to the computer. My voice can't be
heard on the test call. I've tried changing the settings in Skype itself and
on hte computer. The computer does seem to recognise that the microphone is
there. Is it possible that the actual hole that the mic lead slips into is
damaged?

Derbhile
