dear Dearbhla,

By now you may have solved this problem and, if so, please ignore this
offering!

In my experience, you need to get your microphone working in "Sounds and
Audio devices" under Control Panel first. To do this you need to open
control panel and go to the "Voice" tab. Under "recording device" you will
see a button to test the equipment. If your microphone is working this test
will be successful. If not, then you must see what is not happening and fix
it until this test is working.

Next, you go to Skype and open the "sound" settings page. Here you need to
select the new microphone driver. The same name as that in Sounds and Audio
devices should show up as an option.

Here again, you can test the microphone using the Skype sound test.

I hope this is of some use.

All the best,

Cearbhall

Hi Derbhile, I am currently skypeless due to computer problems, but I was
using a Skypephone the kind that plugs in via a usb, but along with it came
a programme called Skypemate, which it was necessary to load to make it
work. Could it be something similar I wonder. Maybe someone with more
experience with me could throw light on this possibility.

Jo

I'm having a problem with the new Skype microphone I bought. Basiclally, the
microphone doesn't seem to be connecting to the computer. My voice can't be
heard on the test call. I've tried changing the settings in Skype itself and
on hte computer. The computer does seem to recognise that the microphone is
there. Is it possible that the actual hole that the mic lead slips into is
damaged?

Derbhile
