I assume you're still referring to 0.062-pre9. I don't quite follow the
usage pattern that leads to losing yoshimi data through a jack session
directory mishap. What happens with jack session dirs is well outside the
control of yoshimi. If you've modified instruments, surely the logical
place to store them ould be as a bank/program combo within the database?

Why have a 'Parameters' save/load menu option too.. what is the
difference between them?

Save state stores/restores the overall state of the synth, including all
instrument selections. Parameters is a means of loading/saving just the
collective instrument selections currently in play. The difference is
subtle. The reasons for the existence of both are largely historical.
