Hi Will!

So are you saying that yes, they do do pretty much exactly the same
thing but parameters is better tested/more reliable than state? You
also bring up a point I forgot to ask about and that is that both
these menus (paramater and state) have been (re)moved under 0.62 so
which, if any, is the one planned to survive?

In 0.062-pre8 those menu options were simply deactivated, not quite removed.
There's still work to be done in that area, so they're disabled until I get
things sorted out.

I'm ultimately thinking about the distribution of banks of yoshimi
instruments(parts) in JS/LADI sessions and I want a compact, portable
file that stores your current bank of yoshimi parts and their extended
status as must get exported in the jack sessions but not necessarily
with the jack connections although that would be nice. We need to look
at the portability of yoshimi and JACK sessions soon y'see.

I don't quite follow your use case here. At face value, distributing JS/LADI
sessions doesn't make sense. Sessions contain local system specific data (eg
connections) that won't distribute comfortably. Distributing state files I
can almost understand, although I don't really understand what you're
looking to achieve in doing so.

cheers.
