Hi Carol, Mo's advice is exactly what I would have suggested. In addition, I would check to see if the 'auto hide start menu' is turned on in your configuration. To do this: 1. Right mouse click anywhere on the desktop; 2. In the menu that appears, choose 'personalise'; 3. Tab down to 'Task bar and start menu' and press enter key; 4. In the dialog box that opens, tab to the various options and check the following: 'Lock the taskbar' - make sure that this is checked 'Auto hide the task bar' - make sure this is unchecked 'Use small icons' - this is normally unchecked 'Location on screen' - this is a dropdown combo box, so make sure 'bottom' is selected 'Notification area' - you can choose any of the options in this dropdown combo box, but I normally choose 'never combine'. 5. Tab to the 'Apply' button and press the enter key; 6. Click on the 'OK' button to exit the dialog box. Hopefully the combination of mo's advice and the above will sort the problem. Whether it's a virus - well, not to my knowledge and I use the usual packages and check regularly. Yes, the task bar also disappears. Would you recommend a re-install or repair of IE then?
