John,

If you go to the NVDA pages you will find a link to a developers mailing list.

The developers are there most of the time and are very pro-active.

I have started writing plug-ins for NVDA and it has been a great way to learn Python.

How much does Fritz cost? Many years ago I belonged to Godalming Chess Club for a few years and got very serious about it. Of course I could see back then.

I have been meaning to join the Braille Chess Association.

Incidentally there is a guy in Canada writing an NVDA plugin for the Gnu Chess internet client...another piece of free rubbish.

Hi Mike wonder if you can help
I do use nvda with the other voices as well but when I use my chess
software it will not work as good as jaws.
How can I ask the developers about it.
the chess program is called fritz. or hiarcs or deep rybka4 it would be
great to ask them to have a look at it.
cheers there.

Hello Terry,

Why don't you give NVDA a try before you commit to spending another
wadge of cash?

It's easy to download and install and most of the key-bindings are the
same as those for Jaws.

There is a vibrant and lively support forum also.

Hi all

I won't bore you with my rant about having to keep asking for my dam
jaws
keys to be re-setby FS, as it's long.

What I wanted to know, is how window eyes is activated and or
authorised.

Is it the same annoying method that FS use, or a sensible mainstream
method,
i.e. you are provided with a serial number, and can install it on
your own
pc as many times as you choose.

Thanks for any help.

Terry

Hi Andy

For the moment I'm only using the Scandisk Clip+ for a trial period.
I don't
think this device has any more than track ability available. If I get on
well with using extra books I am considering the Victor Reader Stream.

Hi Roger

If you are using a victor stream or perhaps a booksense, you can
rewind by 1
minute or 5 or 10 and even up to 30 on the stream, not sure about the
booksense, how would this work on the plextalk pocket I wonder?

Subject: [access-uk] Audible Books

Hi All

I've just joined the Audible UK book library and have just downloaded my
first book. Quite a long one at 32 hours and only in 4 parts. This
means if
I need to go back over ground already read I can only do so by going
back to
the start of the current track which are around 8 hours long. It
would be
just great to break these down into smaller tracks but the file
format is
.aa which I understand is Audible's encrypted system which is not
breakable
by any software available.

If this is correct does anyone know of a solution to my problem, please.

Many thanks

Roger
