Hi guys - following up on a comment of andrews about jfw licences now =
that there are 5 versions of windows vista. I asked this question on the =
jaws-uk list and although not officially Tris indicated that he thought =
it likely that fs will need to support the two vista home editions on =
the standard licence and the pro editions on the pro licence. Don't =
know about the dev world edition.

For this reason it may well be worth buying in to media centre edition =
to get the free upgrade to home premium which will work on the standard =
jaws licence. The down side being that you'll need to operate on jaws =
demo mode or make alternative arrangements for a few weeks between media =
center, and vista home premium.

On pcspecialist for instance the difference in price between xp home and =
xp media centre is =A311 so well worth while.

Hi,

Yes the larger one came with XP Home. Not sure what the model down came =
with, but there were lots of models on there with varying operating =
systems, so my suggestion is to look at the ones that come with XP Home.
In my opinion, unless you are doing stuff with TV tuners and the like, =
you don't need MediaCentre edition, and the XP Home/Prof is still being =
sold.

The site Adrian posted seemed slightly better value for money in terms =
of customisation and the type of components shipped - I am not sure =
which models of mobo were shipped with the unit we were looking at.

Andrew.

Hi again Andrew.

Which machine was shipped with xp home, the big brother? If this is the

case, then I'll probably go for the wee guy.

Best wishes.
