Well, I got my current desktop from PCSpecialist at

http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/

I found their tech guys to be knowledgeable and helpful. They didn't mind
much to give me support over the phone even after the warranty on my machine
expired and they are not patronising when they find you know a bit about
computers. Yes, the tech guys don't know a great deal about screen readers,
but why should any tech person other those who specialise in this field do
so, but at least they understood what I was on about and what that entitled
when I mentioned my screen reader. They have pickup and return schemes. It
took about ten days for my machine to come back when I sent it back to
replace a failed hard drive.

Sorry if this company has been mentioned before but I wasn't closely
following this thread.

Cheers,
Amro

But that's exactly the case. Why would anyone expect someone working for PC
World to be knowledgeable in screen readers and adaptive technology? Good
that they acknowledged that you're the expert, because you are...

I have to admit that I've always had good service when I've taken machines
to be upgraded or repaired and the tech guys that do the repairs and
upgrades are very good and don't treat you in a patronising manner if they
can see you know a bit about computers.

Having said that, there's also some very good small independant computer
shops that will bend over backwards to help and at a resonable price. Again
though, you'll be disappointed if you think they're going to know anything
more than the actual existence of screen readers.

Regards.
