Agreed, the list self-moderated quite well - eg there were some threads about COVID which got political, and people complained that that was not suitable here, and people stopped posting political stuff about COVID.

It's just when someone doesn't take the hint ...

So as to future moderation, I don't think moderation of individual posts is suitable (even though the volume is quite high, so high that I for one don't read all the posts) - that stops the flow of conversation and thought.

That leaves moderating posts from some posters, or excluding some posters. Again the first stops the flow, and a repeat offender who doesn't take the hint - even if he's otherwise good - can be excluded.

So maybe the moderator might leave things pretty much as they are, and when someone complains he might poll the list as to whether someone is to be excluded.
