It was under 300 km and it was head-on kinetic. This is nearly the
most benign ASAT anyone has ever done.

I'm not saying it's good that they did it, but it was maybe 10,000
times better than China's. After China and the US demonstrated ASAT
recently, it's irresponsible for any spacefaring country to not
demonstrate this ability.

For me the bigger question is "was this the first try".
