The claim was that Google as a company is failing on accessibility, I just
gave example when asked. I know really well they are doing fine on mobile
platforms.

To take it back to GPS and map data, I have a question: How well does
http://maps.google.com work with screen readers? There is cool tools there
too for example handling personal or shared POI repositories (and generate
publicly shared KML out of those). I use them with sighted people to
collect POI information in crowdsourced manner, but I have never even
thought about using them with my visually impaired friends since I have
learnt that Google's web based tools are not working very well with screen
readers.
