The latest edition of K&R was written in 1988 - that's nearly two
decades ago. C has changed quite a bit since that time. The biggest
change has been the adoption of C99 as the latest standard[0].
Well, IIRC C99 became an ISO standard only in 2004 or so. I don't
think any of the mainstream compilers fully support C99 - what is the
status of GCC? Are there any applications that use the features of C99
yet?
On the other hand, the fact that a book written in 1988 is relevant
and authoritative in its topic in 2006 - 18 years later - proves the
advantages of open standards, IMO.
