Most of the conferences happen in non-Chennai locations and whenever I
used to be there I don't see many for TN (i.e. our LUG). Also, many
people might be ready to attend a local conference because the
expenses of attending one are less comparatively.
We have a comparatively bigger FOSS community but not many of them
are exposed/acquainted with the rest of India. Think a Conference in
Chennai might make this possible, making us to interact with the rest
of the community in India. Plus we don't have much international FOSS
icons turning up at Chennai, other than occasional RMS visits ;)
At last, why shouldn't we have a conference at Chennai, why should we
be left behind ?
