Given the number of people fanatic about i18n and typing random list emails
in tamil, you might want to do one focused on i18n (and invite people like
CDAC, the Hyderabad Central University etc who are also doing i18n work), or
given the work that ELCOT is doing in deploying FOSS in governments, and
NRC-FOSS is doing in deploying FOSS in colleges, you could do some focused on
that.
+1. When you're starting off, it is better not to try to do everything.
Though i8ln is not one of my interest areas, I would say it is a very
interesting area to do a conference in. Since there are so many people
motivated enough to do something about it, it's relatively easier to do.
I also agree with srs about holding a conference close to foss.in or
other major conferences - for example, GNUnify happens about 2 weeks
prior to LinuxAsia, so people normally check out the former, and proceed
to the latter from there. The focus happens to be sufficiently different
to be of interest to the same people. Just my 2 paise.
