I am failing to understand what you are suggesting
here. Would be great if you can provide little more detail so that
people can understand your point well.

You are free to use proprietary or open source or mix, as per your liking,
need, capability, constraints.
However, this mail group has defined boundaries for topics for discussion /
information.
[So do most of the mail groups.]
Apart from ideological and related reasons, please understand:
(a) You are targeting the wrong group -- wasting your ad, more importantly,
others' time.
(b) It is possible that the topic you and I raise is ambiguous (at least to
the two of us).
If somebody objects:
   -- objection is valid : we should apologize and retract (even if there
is flaming)
   -- objection is invalid : point out the fault & we substantiate our input
   -- otherwise : we can offer specific reasons as to relevance for the
wide segment of this group or stop wasting time.
