Yes. While I don't take sides on which is better between vi and Emacs,
I can assure you that Emacs has definitely helped me boost my
productivity a lot, and spending time learning it was well worth the
effort.
And the reason why I like Emacs and use it over vi is simple: I
started going through the Emacs tutorial and kept slogging through the
Emacs Info files and emacswiki.org. So, I really didn't have a fair
look at the capabilities of vim, to be frank.
And, for everyone, while I won't discourage anybody's attempt at
giving a talk on Emacs, every Emacs user has his or her own style of
use, and adapting to others' styles may be difficult. But there's one
thing common to all Emacs users (provided they adhere to the advice in
the tutorial); their left Control key's label rubs of really quickly!
