The Emacs tutorial, the one you get by starting Emacs and typing C-h
C-t (that is Ctrl-h followed by Ctrl-t) is pretty good.  You should
try that out before you attend any Emacsy Howto-Talk.

I have been trying that for the last 12 years - never got anywhere,  
which is why I made to request
