[opendtv] Re: CES Buzz Missing on STB

I think I'm waiting for a cheap ATSC & QAM Tivo-like hard disc and DVDR like product that does not require a guide subscription or a cable card for non-premium stuff.


But I guess even without the hard drive it could replace all those VCR's in the world and avoid tempest on transition day.

I'm sure that a a convention like CES, it's the new stuff that gets the most buzz.

I was pleased to see the Panasonic ATSC DVDRs Ron pointed out. That's something of a landmark, IMO. Also, I went back to our local Circuit City yesterday, and again they had sold out the new Samsung STBs. The salesman said they could only stock 3 at a time, though, and that they always sell out right away. So where does that figure in all our prognostications?
