Good point.

But my thing is, the transmission infrastructure per se is not so much
the issue here, in major markets anyway. It is out in the boonies, but
then again, that's also true in other countries. I posted an article
some time ago, for example, about how Freesat was touted as the main DTV
transition medium in some regions of the UK, rather than DTT.

I think the bigger problem here is that the OTA stations do not
consciously and deliberately create  a very attractive OTA option. Even
after having invested in the DTT infrastructure, they don't
enthusiastically exploit it. If you start getting used to one neat new
DTT subchannel, hold your breath, because chances are that in a couple
of months it will be gone.

By the way, parenthetically, there is some piggybacking going on in the
US too, as Tom has mentioned in Gainesville. And also, I saw a news item
somewhere that Gainesville was finally getting an NBC affiliated
station. Halleluja.
