I think Bert nailed it pretty well.  There are unquestionably ghosts -- 
in the canyons of Manhattan, how could there not be? -- but they are 
pretty close and, therefore, relatively innocuous.  They don't even 
interfere with reading text in commercials.  There is no signal-strength 
issue with my analog reception, so the only thing keeping the pictures 
from being studio grade is the ghosts.  NTSC reception with a set-top 
antenna remains very good.  ATSC reception with a set-top antenna, 
except for the LG 5th-generation box, is spotty to non-existent.

For what it's worth, during the brief period of DTT from the World Trade 
Center (which was an earlier era of boxes), the problems seemed 
comparable.  That was more like six miles rather than two.
